Dylan Covey failed to make it through the fifth, allowing seven runs to take the loss. Yoan Moncada [[ YO-ahn mon-KAH-duh ]] homered in defeat, but made a costly error in the fifth. Leury Garcia drove in three Chicago runs. The Pale Hose have lost six-of-seven.

(Columbus, OH) — Urban Meyer is on administrative leave while Ohio State conducts an investigation into how much the football coach knew about domestic violence allegations against one of his assistants. OSU announced yesterday it was placing Meyer on leave while looking into the timeline of allegations around former wide receivers coach Zach Smith. Meyer denied last week knowing of reports concerning Smith’s actions in 2015. Recent text messages made public between Smith’s ex-wife and Urban Meyer’s wife have cast doubt on the coach’s denial.

(Westfield, IN) — Andrew Luck continues to work his way back into shape at training camp for the Colts. Luck and T.Y. Hilton are re-establishing their connection and hooked up multiple times at yesterday’s practice. Three safeties missed practice due to injuries, including last year’s first-round pick Malik Hooker. (Indianapolis, IN) — Colts offensive lineman Jack Mewhort is hanging up his cleats. The 26-year-old has decided to retire after dealing with multiple knee injuries. Mewhort has been limited to just 15 games over the past two seasons. He was a second-round pick out of Ohio State in 2014.

(Chicago, IL) — David Nwaba will not be returning to the Bulls. Chicago has pulled their qualifying offer from Nwaba making him a unrestricted free agent rather than restricted. He’s staying in the Central Division, though. Multiple outlets report Nwaba has signed with the Cavaliers. The 25-year-old averaged 7.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game last season and is best known for his defense.
Former All-Pro linebacker Shawne Merriman has agreed to participate in a bare-knuckle boxing match later this year. The World Bare Knuckle Fighting Federation announced the 34-year-old Merriman will
take part in a pay-per-view event in Casper, Wyoming at a yet to be determined date. Merriman won the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2005 and made three Pro Bowls during an eight-year
career that ended in 2012.
