(Moline, IL) — Airport managers in three downstate cities aren’t giving up on the idea of a tax expansion to fuel their growth. The Quad Cities’ airport, as well as the airports in Bloomington-Normal and Rockford, asked Illinois lawmakers to allow them to expand their tax base. Lawmakers didn’t get to the proposal in time this month. Carl Olson, with the Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington, says the group of airports has been working on an expansion plan for years and says the airports will regroup and take another stab at the idea in the future.
