(Boston, MA) — The Celtics are moving on to the Eastern Conference Finals. Boston closed out the 76ers in Game Five of their second-round series 114-112 at TD Garden. Rookie Jayson Tatum paced the Celtics with 25 points and Jaylen Brown added 24. The Celtics will host LeBron James and the Cavaliers in Game One on Sunday.

(Chicago, IL) — Anthony Rizzo’s three-run homer highlighted an eight-run third inning as the Cubs clobbered the Marlins 13-4 to sweep a three-game series at Wrigley Field. Rizzo had three hits and drove in five, and Kris Bryant and Addison Russell also went deep. The Cubs outscored the Fish 31-to-9 in the series. Jose Quintana got the win. Chicago is 19-and-15, one game behind the first-place Cards in the NL Central.

(Chicago, IL) — Nate Jones gave up four runs in the top of the ninth inning as the White Sox lost 6-5 to the Pirates at Guaranteed Rate Field. Colin Moran’s two-run homer capped the frame for Pittsburgh. Tim Anderson and Daniel Palka hit two-run homers for the Southsiders, who have dropped five in-a-row and nine-of-10. Jones took the loss. The Sox are last in the AL Central at 9-and-25.

(San Diego, CA) — The Cardinals were off on Wednesday. They begin a six-game road trip tonight with the first of a four-game series against the Padres at Petco Park. St. Louis will also visit Minnesota for two games before returning home. First pitch tonight is at 9:10 p.m. Miles Mikolas will start the opener for the Cards opposite San Diego’s Jordan Lyles.

(San Diego, CA) — Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright is scheduled to throw a bullpen session today in San Diego. The 36-year-old right-hander has been on the disabled list with a sore elbow. Manager Mike Matheny says Wainwright could still make another minor league rehab start. He pitched five scoreless innings for Double-A Springfield on Monday.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Colts are bringing in veteran offensive tackle Austin Howard to shore up their offensive line. Howard and the Colts agreed to a deal yesterday. The 31-year-old started all 16 games at right tackle for the Ravens last season. He has played 92 career games for the Ravens, Raiders, Jets and Eagles.

(Nashville, TN) — The Jets clash with the Predators in Game Seven of their second-round playoff series tonight in Nashville. It’s a win or go home matchup, with the seven-game series tied at three games apiece. The winner will play Vegas in the West finals. The Lightning and Capitals open the Eastern Conference finals tomorrow in Tampa.

(Los Angeles, CA) — Thunder forward Paul George will miss six-to-eight weeks as he recovers from knee surgery. He had an arthroscopic procedure yesterday in Los Angeles. George reportedly dealt with knee soreness most of the season despite missing only three games. George is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

(Allen Park, MI) — The Lions have no regrets hiring Matt Patricia as head coach despite a sexual assault allegation from 1996. Owner Martha Ford and president Rod Wood say they fully support the former Patriots defensive coordinator. The allegation was cited by the “Detroit News.” Patricia says he was falsely accused 22 years ago.
