(Shelbyville, IL) — The Shelbyville Lions Club held its annual spaghetti dinner on Tuesday, March 13 from 5-7 p.m. at the Lions Club, and sold more than 170 meals. On Wednesday, May 2, Shelbyville Lions’ Club member Jack Tynan presented a $1,000 check to HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital CEO and President Aaron Puchbauer for the HSHS Good Shepherd Foundation Vicky Wagner Breast Cancer Assistance Fund. “We are happy to help such a great cause for the women of Shelby County, and we really appreciate the support of this community,” Tynan said. “We enjoy serving and can always anticipate a great turnout for our event. This year was one of our best events. Our club helps others but we couldn’t do so if the public weren’t behind us.” The HSHS Good Shepherd Vicky Wagner Breast Cancer Assistance Fund was set up to help
Shelby County women with breast cancer who are actively seeking treatment with their out-of-pocket expenses. These expenses may include but are not limited to child care, travel, meals, wigs, mileage and parking.
“Our hospital’s foundation began this fund in 2011, and we have helped several women since its inception,” Puchbauer said. “It is with the generous donations of individuals and organizations such as the Lions that we are able to do so. We are extremely grateful to have their support, and I thank them for making our fund a priority.” Each applicant is considered on a case-by-case basis.
