(Chicago, IL) — Anthony Rizzo’s groundout plated the go-ahead run in the sixth inning as the Cubs clipped the Rockies 3-2 at Wrigley Field. Addison Russell and Albert Almora Jr. also singled in runs for Chicago, which has won five in-a-row. Luke Ferrell earned his first big league win. The second of the three-game series is tonight.

(Los Angeles, CA) — The Dodgers’ slow start to the season is getting worse. Shortstop Corey Seager will have Tommy John surgery on his throwing arm and is out for the rest of the season. He’s hit .267 with two home runs and 13 RBI this year. Seager had missed only one game before the issue with his ulnar collateral ligament flared up.

(Indianapolis, IN) — Former Colts’ wideout Reggie Wayne is coming back to Indy. The Colts announced that Wayne has joined their staff as a volunteer assistant receiver’s coach. Wayne played 14 seasons with the Colts and amassed more than one-thousand catches for over 14-thousand yards and 82 scores. He is going to be inducted into the Colts’ Ring of Honor on November 18th.

(Collinsville, IL) — It’s Opening Day at Fairmont Park. The 93rd season of thoroughbred racing begins at 1 p.m. It’s the first of 41 days of live racing through September 22nd. Racing is Tuesday afternoon and Saturday night, with Tuesdays switching to Monday’s on Labor Day. There’s also a day card this Saturday for the Kentucky Derby.
