(Quincy, IL) — Illinois lawmakers working to end the Legionnaires outbreak at the veterans home in Quincy say they can go on without the state’s VA director. Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs Director Erica Jeffries resigned last week. On Friday, Quincy state Senator Jil Tracy said there’s already a plan in the works to fix the problems at the home. Thirteen people have died and dozens of others have gotten sick since 2015 because of a Legionnaires outbreak at the home.
