(Springfield, IL) — Who knows how they will be drinking beer 200 years from now but Illinois’ bicentennial beer is now available in cans. Governor Rauner and members of the state’s Bicentennial Commission cracked the first cans of the 1818 Prairie State Farmhouse Ale yesterday in Springfield. The beer won a competition at the State Fair to become Illinois’ official 200th birthday beer. Brewers say they used Illinois crops including corn, wheat, and oats.
