(Springfield, IL) — Illinois is once again at the top of the list of the bottom states in the country. U.S. News and World Report last week came out with its list of the most and least financially stable states in the country. Illinois leads the worst list. The report looked at pension debt, balanced budgets, cash flow, and the state’s credit rating. Republicans in Springfield say given Illinois’ fiscal mess, it’s not a surprise that the state is ranked dead last in fiscal stability.
