(New York, NY) — Jerry Jones could be facing a humongous fine from the NFL. League officials tell “The New York Times” Commissioner Roger Goodell will fine the Cowboys owner millions of dollars over Jones’ failed bid to delay Goodell’s contract extension. Jones is also going to be fined for defending Ezekiel Elliott, saying he didn’t think the running back should have been suspended.

(Undated) — The details of the soon to be completed Marcus Peters trade are starting to trickle out. ESPN reports the Chiefs will get a 2018 fourth-round pick and 2019 second-round pick from the Rams for their top cornerback. Kansas City will also ship a 2018 sixth-round pick to Los Angeles. The deal was agreed to last Friday, but can’t be completed officially until the new-league year starts on March 14th.

(Undated) — Virginia is the new number-one team in the nation. The Cavaliers took over the top spot in the “USA Today” Top-25 Coaches’ Poll despite previous number-one Michigan State winning twice last week to extend its winning streak to 12 straight. The Spartans dropped to number-two.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Blues are saying goodbye to center Paul Stastny. They dealt the 32-year-old to the Winnipeg Jets before Monday’s NHL trade deadline. In return, St. Louis receives a conditional 2018 first-round draft pick, a conditional fourth-rounder in 2020 and prospect Erik Foley. Stastny had 12 goals and 28 assists with the Blues this season.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Blues are in the Twin Cities tonight as they take on the Wild in St. Paul. St. Louis is riding a six-game losing streak and has been shut out 4-0 in each of its last two games against the Predators and Jets. The Blues are fifth in the Central Division with 72 points, just one out of a wild card spot in the West. Minnesota has 77 points.

(Undated) — The Blackhawks made two trades before yesterday’s trade deadline. Chicago shipped Ryan Hartman and a 2018 fifth-round pick to the Predators for Victor Ejdsell, a 2018 first-round pick and a 2018 fourth-round pick. The Blackhawks also traded Tommy Wingels to the Bruins for a 2019 conditional fifth-round pick. Chicago is off until they play at the Sharks on Thursday.

(Mesa, AZ) — The Cubs scored seven runs in the final two innings to pull out a 9-9 tie against the Mariners in Mesa. Mike Freeman’s two-run shot in the bottom of the ninth evened things up at nine. Chicago trailed 9-2. They continue Cactus League play versus the White Sox this afternoon at their home park.

(Glendale, AZ) — Michael Kopech tossed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts in the White Sox’s 7-6 Cactus League win over the Athletics in Glendale. Tyler Saladino had two hits and a run scored in the victory. Chicago faces the Cubs this afternoon in Mesa.

(Fort Myers, FL) — Conner Greene gave up two runs in the seventh inning as the Cardinals lost 5-4 to the Twins in Grapefruit League play in Fort Myers. Starter Michael Wacha [[ WAH-kuh ]] pitched two hitless innings, walking one. Rangel Ravelo had an RBI single and an RBI double for St. Louis. The Cardinals play the Red Sox today in Fort Myers.

(Brooklyn, NY) — The Bulls were no match for the Nets in a 104-87 loss at the Barclays Center. Kris Dunn tallied 23 points for Chicago, which has lost four in-a-row to fall to 20-and-40. The Bulls are at the Hornets tonight.
>>Illinois Opens Big Ten Tournament Tomorrow
(New York, NY) — Illinois opens Big Ten Tournament play tomorrow in the “Big Apple.” The Fighting Illini face Iowa in the first round at Madison Square Garden. Tip-off is at 4:30 p.m. Illinois won at Rutgers on Sunday to finish the regular season 14-and-17 overall and 4-and-14 in the conference. The Illini lost at home to Iowa in overtime on January 11th.
