(Davenport, IA) — A huge chunk of the middle of Illinois started the day under a Winter Weather Advisory. The National Weather Service left an advisory in place till 6 a.m. for folks from just outside of the Quad Cities to the Indiana border, and from the Chicago suburbs to just south of Springfield. Forecasters say the freezing rain/snow mix that blanketed the state last night left nearly a half inch of ice in some places. There is good news for the forecast – temperatures are expected to be in the 40s by Wednesday.
