(Springfield, IL) — More than a few Illinois deer hunters likely left the field empty-handed after the first weekend of shotgun hunting. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources yesterday said the deer harvest for the first weekend of firearm season in the state is down about five-percent. Still, hunters managed to get over 51-thousand deer. Hunters will get another crack at the state’s deer next weekend.
