The Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office will soon have a prosecutor dedicated to handling cases involving opioids. That position will be funded by the private foundation of current Macon County Sheriff Howard G. Buffett. That prosecutor role, as well as a paralegal, will be paid for through a $180,000 grant from the Buffett Foundation. The addition of the prosecutor was approved by the Macon County Justice Committee on Thursday- it will go before the county board at theit December 14th meeting.
