(Peoria, IL) — Folks in Peoria may not get a Portillo’s after all. The developer behind the idea pulled a request for a special taxing district last week that would have allowed him to make-up for some construction costs. Peoria city leaders complained the special tax would have been another cost on local taxpayers. Peoria Assistant City Manager Chris Setti said that they want the Chicago style hotdog restaurant, but he’s not sure if there is a plan B.
