Bulls Gore Magic
(Orlando, FL) — Seven players scored in double-figures as the Bulls pulled away in the second half to top the Magic 105-83 at Amway Center. Chicago outscored Orlando by 14 in the third quarter and nine in the fourth to pick up its first road victory. Justin Holiday led the way with 19 points, and Robin Lopez added 11 with 10 rebounds in the winning effort. The Bulls improved to 2-and-5 overall. Evan Fournier paced the 6-and-3 Magic with a game-high 21 points. Orlando shot just above 40-percent from the field, but just 10-of-35 from three, to lose for the first time in four tries at home.
Cavaliers Right Ship Against Wizards
(Washington, DC) — LeBron James scored 57 points with 11 rebounds and seven assists as the Cavaliers topped the Wizards 130-122 in D.C. James shot 23-of-34 from the field and scored his 29-thousandth career point to become the youngest player ever to eclipse the milestone. Derrick Rose added 20 points, and Jae [[ Jay ]] Crowder and Kevin Love combined for 28 and 15 rebounds for Cleveland. The Cavs shot 56-percent from the field and snapped a four-game slide. Bradley Beal paced the Wizards with a team-high 36 points. John Wall scored just 13 but did have 15 assists for Washington, which has lost four-of-five.
Oilers Too Slick For Devils
(Edmonton, Alberta) — Oscar Klefbom snapped a 2-all tie just over six minutes into the second period and the Oilers went on to beat the Devils 6-3 in Edmonton. The Oilers added two more to stretch the lead to 5-2 en route to snapping their two-game losing streak. It was just Edmonton’s fourth win in 12 games this season. Taylor Hall, Jesper Bratt and Brian Gibbons scored goals for New Jersey, which was held without a power-play chance in defeat. It was just the third loss of the season in 12 games for the Devils, who had won three straight and six of their previous seven games.
Predators Hold Off Ducks
(Anaheim, CA) — The Predators jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on to clip the Ducks 5-3 in Anaheim. First-period goals from Scott Hartnell and Roman Josi and Matt Irwin’s goal early in the second gave Nashville the three-goal advantage. Viktor Arvidsson added a power-play tally and P.K. Subban iced the game with an empty-netter. Pekka Rinne stopped 35-of-38 shots as the Preds snapped a two-game slide. Antoine Vermette, Hampus Lindholm and Jakob Silfverberg lit the lamp in defeat. Anaheim has dropped two straight to fall to 6-6-and-1.
