(Decatur, IL) — The City of Decatur and the NNO (National Night Out) are inviting all residents to join them for the 34th Annual National Night Out Crime and Drug Prevention event on August 1 at Hess Park from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
The NNO campaign involves local government officials, not-for-profit organizations, citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses and neighborhood organizations. Over 16,000 cities around the U.S. will host block parties, cookouts, parades, flashlight walks, contests, and youth activities. In all, over 38.3 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out against Crime”.
There will be food, prizes, games and music by DJ Mondo along with local officials, police, fire, and so much more will participate and entertain. Proceeds will go Coalition of Neighborhood Organizations (CONO) for future neighborhood activities and events. Sponsors also include: Decatur Community Partnership, the Decatur Park District, CONO, HSHS—St. Mary’s, the Macon County Sheriff’s Office Community, United Way, the Decatur Police Department, the Decatur Fire Department, Good Samaritan, Crimestoppers and the Police Benevolent Association and Target.
