(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner says he’s telling lawmakers now that he plans to veto a 911 surcharge plan, so they have time to agree on a new one. Rauner’s office yesterday let it be known that the governor will veto the proposal which would almost double the 911 fee on phone bills across the state. The governor says the fee is too steep, the plan would allow Chicago to charge people as much as five dollars more per-line. Without any action by lawmakers, 911 funding in the state will expire next month.
