(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner is hinting strongly that he’ll veto the school funding reform bill passed in the final hours of the legislative session. At campaign-style stops in Poplar Grove and Moline, Governor Rauner said the bill would raise taxes on the rest of Illinois to pay for Chicago schools. He said Democrats tacked a bailout amendment onto the bill that would require people across the state to pay for Chicago schools. The bill would change to a need-based school funding formula, but also includes 300-million dollars for Chicago teachers’ pensions.
