(Springfield, IL) — The U.S. Census says Illinois is losing population. According to the latest estimates, Illinois has 29-thousand fewer people now than in 2010. The largest city in the state, Chicago, is the only one of the ten largest cities in the country to see a population decline from 2015 to 2016. That’s the third year in a row the Windy City has lost residents. Decatur, Peoria and Rockford lost between two-and-three-percent of their population in that time, more than any other area of the state.
