(Springfield, IL) — Illinois lawmakers aren’t giving up on trying to change how the state pays for schools. A House panel yesterday approved a new plan, which is different than the Senate plan to make ‘need’ the driver of state dollars. The House plan would allow low-income districts with high property taxes more freedom in spending state money. But the plan comes with just one day left on the calendar in Springfield.
