(Chicago, IL) — A number of state lawmakers are pushing to make former President Barack Obama’s birthday a state holiday. Bills being debated in the Illinois House and Senate would create the holiday. They differ on whether it would mean closing state offices and public schools or whether it would be merely a commemorative day like Casimir Pulaski Day.
