The Maroa-Forsyth volleyball team went 8-0 this past weekend to become the Riverton Tournament Champions and then picked up right where they off with a grind out it performance on Tuesday night against Riverton to win in three sets, 20-25, 25-22, 25-20.
The Trojans are firing on all cylinders as the win was their 12th straight and also kept them in the drivers seat in the Sangamo Conference at 6-0. Riverton gained the early momentum taking the first set but Maroa did not back down as they rallied to win set two and three to push their overall record to 16-4 on the year. “It was quite a battle against a very good Riverton team. We didn’t pass well in the first set but stayed composed to win sets two and three,” said Maroa-Forsyth head coach Sarah Mason.
Savana Sparks and Reese Bobbitt were the tone setters on Tuesday night combing for 26 kills and Carly Mason had a career high 39 assists on the evening. “Reese Bobitt is unstoppable when we are in system and she showed it last night. Annelise’s (Sparks) defense was a difference maker and Carly kept their frontline guessing by mixing it up to our hitters. Great conference win for Maroa-Forsyth volleyball,” said Mason.
The Trojans will look to keep the winning streak alive tomorrow night as they will play host to conference for New Berlin and also put their undefeated conference record on the line.
