The Maroa-Forsyth volleyball team moved their win streak to five games on Tuesday night with straight sets win over conference foe North Mac, 25-14, 25-17. The Trjoans were challenged for awhile in the first set by North Mac, but were able to pull away from the help of Carly Mason and Reese Bobbitt to head in the second set with the match lead and momentum. North Mac would pressure on in the second set gaining a seven point lead but Maroa would not back down as they stormed back to win the second set and the match to stay undefeated in the Sangamo Conference at 4-0. “Great conference win for us tonight. In the first set, we made more errors than I would like but for the most part, we were being aggressive. We were a little late at the net too which is something we need to be more consistent on. Overall, I was pleased with our communication and ability to stay composed even when we got down in the second set,” said Maroa-Forsyth head coach Sarah Mason.
Senior Savana Sparks led the way for the Trojans with six kills and junior Carly Mason had three aces and 16 assists. Bailey Stauffer led North Mac with four kills and Bridget Bertolino tallied 10 assists. “We have another conference battle against Auburn Thursday at home and we return to the Riverton tournament as two time defending champs this weekend. So we have a lot to prepare for in the gym today,” said Mason.
The Trojans are 9-4 and 4-0 in the Sangamo Conference and return to action at home tomorrow night against Auburn.
