The Meridian volleyball team rebounded from lost on Tuesday to St. Teresa by taking down conference foe Sullivan at home on Thursday night in straight sets, 25-12, 25-16. The Hawks need to come out and respond after a hard fought loss on Tuesday and they just that by executing offensively and limiting mistakes as they made dominated in both sets. “Sophomore outside hitter Emily Peterson came off the bench to make a huge contribution with 10 kills to add to Chelsea Getz’s additional 10 kills to solidify the win,” said Meridian head coach Tony Holly.
It was a good night offensively for Getz and Peterson who combined for 20 kills and set the tone for the Hawks. Chloe Herbert had three aces and a game high 17 assists. “The team is playing at a higher level with an eye on making every win count to ensure a good record before the IHSA seeding deadline in just under two weeks,” said Holly.
Maddie Dickens led Sullivan with seven kills as they return to action tomorrow in the Arcola tournament. The Hawks are now 9-7 and 2-1 in conference play and take the court tomorrow in the Eisenhower tournament.
