(New York, NY) — The NFL is clearing three players accused off performance-enhancing drug use in an Al-Jazeera America report. The league says it found no credible evidence against the Steelers’ James Harrison or the Packers’ Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers. Retired quarterback Peyton Manning was also mentioned in the report, but was cleared by the NFL earlier this summer.

(Chicago, IL) — The Cubs finished off a three-game sweep of the Pirates with a 6-5 win. Kris Bryant homered and Addison Russell knocked in a pair for Chicago. Jason Hammel tossed six innings of one-run ball to move to 14-and-7. Aroldis Chapman earned his 12th save despite allowing a run in the ninth.

(Detroit, MI) — The Tigers completed a three-game sweep of the White Sox with a 3-2 win in Detroit. David Robertson took the loss after allowing the decisive run in the ninth. Jose Abreu and Alex Avila hit solo homers for Chicago.

(Milwaukee, WI) — Kirk Nieuwenhuis slammed a three-run home run as the Brewers clipped the Cardinals, 3-1, in Milwaukee. Luke Weaver struck out 10 batters over six innings, but he still fell to 1-and-2. Yadier Molina left the yard for St. Louis.

(Los Angeles, CA) — Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is staying put for now. ESPN reports Puig won’t be moved after the unnamed team that claimed in him on waivers was more interested in blocking him from going to another club. Puig is currently in Triple-A.

(Flushing, NY) — Kelly Johnson’s bases-clearing double in the eighth gave the Mets a 5-2 win over the Marlins. New York which has won nine of 11 to move to within a game-and-a-half of St. Louis for the second NL Wild Card spot. Miami has dropped five straight.

(Flushing Meadows, NY) — Novak Djokovic is moving on to the third round of the U.S. Open without breaking a sweat. The men’s top seed advanced after scheduled opponent Jiri Vesely withdrew due to injury. Fourth-seeded Rafael Nadal is also into the third round after winning the first ever match with the new 150-million-dollar roof on Arthur Ashe Stadium closed.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Colts close out the preseason tonight against the Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium. Most Colts’ starters won’t see the field while bubble players have one final audition to secure a roster spot. The team must trim its roster from 75 players to 53 by Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is at 7:30 p.m.
