(Troon, Scotland) — Henrik Stenson is the winner of the 2016 British Open. The Swede shot a final-round 8-under-par 63 at Royal Troon to beat Phil Mickelson by three shots. Stenson’s 20-under-par total is a British Open record. Mickelson finished alone in second at 17-under.
>>Hamels, Rangers Prevent Sweep Against Cubs
(Chicago, IL) — Cole Hamels tossed a gem as the Rangers dropped the Cubs, 4-1, to prevent the sweep at Wrigley Field. John Lackey lasted eight innings but fell to 8-and-6 on the year for the Cubs. Javier Baez [[ BUY-ez ]] doubled in their only run. Chicago opens a three-game series at home with the Mets tonight.

(St. Louis, MO) — Christian Yelich plated half of Miami’s runs as the Marlins clipped the Cardinals 6-3 at Busch Stadium. Michael Wacha got chased after four-plus innings, and Jonathan Broxton took the loss for the Cards. Matt Holiday had three of the team’s four hits, including his 16th homer. St. Louis lost two-of-three to Miami.

(Anaheim, CA) — The Angels completed a three-game sweep of the White Sox with an 8-1 win. Adam Eaton had an RBI double for Chicago, which has lost six of its last eight games. Jacob Turner allowed all eight runs in four-plus innings to take the loss in his White Sox debut.

(Washington, DC) — Starling Marte’s solo homer in the top of the 18th inning gave the Pirates a 2-1 win over the Nationals. It was the longest regular-season game ever at Nationals Park, lasting almost six hours long.

(Loudon, NH) — Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag at the New Hampshire 301. Kenseth captured his second win of the season and 38th of his career. Tony Stewart, Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle rounded out the top five.
>>Alabama OL Taylor Arrested For DUI
(Tuscaloosa, AL) — Another Alabama football player is in trouble with the law. Offensive lineman Alphonse Taylor was arrested for driving under the influence in Tuscaloosa early Sunday morning. Taylor is the third Crimson Tide player to get arrested this offseason.
>>Colts’ Camp Opens Next Tuesday
(Anderson, IN) — The Colts are due to report to training camp next Tuesday, with the first practice coming a day later. The Colts open the NFL preseason against the Packers in the Hall of Fame Game on August 7th in Canton, Ohio. Former Colts head coach Tony Dungy and wide receiver Marvin Harrison will each be inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame that weekend.
