>>Federal Appeals Court Upholds Brady ‘Deflategate’ Suspension
(New York, NY) — A federal appeals court is upholding the four-game “Deflategate” suspension of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. The Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied a petition to rehear Brady’s case. Brady was suspended for his role in using under-inflated footballs in the AFC Championship Game in January 2015.

(East Lansing, MI) — The Michigan State football player involved in an alleged altercation with Warriors star Draymond Green is leaving the school. Defensive back Jermaine Edmondson has been granted his release from the team. Edmondson told police Green hit him during a confrontation on July 10th.

(Los Angeles, CA) — The Cavaliers are the big winners at this year’s ESPY Awards. The Cavs were named the Best Team after winning their first NBA championship in franchise history. LeBron James was also named Best NBA Player, Best Male Athlete and honored for Best Championship Performance.

(Undated) — Baseball’s All-Star Game continues to lose TV viewers. Tuesday’s game on FOX drew a five-point-four rating — a record low for the second straight year. Last year’s game in Cincinnati rated a six-point-six and was the previous low.

(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals return from the All-Star break opening a three-game series against the Marlins at Busch Stadium tomorrow night. It’s the beginning of a 10-game homestand for the 46-and-42 Cards. Jaime Garcia gets the start for St. Louis, but Miami hasn’t announced who will take the mound for them yet.

(Anaheim, CA) — The White Sox open up the second half of the year tomorrow against the Angels in Anaheim. The affair is the first of a three-game series. The Sox are seven games out of first place in the AL Central. Chicago is also four-and-a-half games out of an AL Wild Card spot.

(Hoover, AL) — The College Football Playoff is considering moving future semifinals off New Year’s Eve to potentially increase the television audience. The move could happen no sooner than the 2018 regular season. Last season’s semifinal ratings on New Year’s Eve were down 38.5-percent from the previous year.

(Anderson, IN) — The Colts are due to report to training camp by July 26th, with the first practice coming a day later. The Colts open the NFL Preseason against the Packers in the Hall of Fame Game on August 7th in Canton, Ohio. Former Colts head coach Tony Dungy and wide receiver Marvin Harrison will each be inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame that weekend.
