The Macon County Health Department says a mosquito batch collected in Macon County has tested positive for West Nile Virus. The Health Department encourages residents to get rid of standing water around their property and to use mosquito repellent.West Nile may cause healthy people to have very mild symptoms. People over the age of 50 or individuals that have chronic health conditions, symptoms may be more severe. There have been no reported human cases in Macon County and only two human cases in Illinois as of July 11.
