DECATUR– A Decatur woman, accused of repeatedly hitting a female victim in the face and trying to run over an ex-boyfriend, faces multiple preliminary charges that include aggravated assault with a vehicle, battery and criminal damage.
27-year-old Brittany Whitfield is in custody, facing multiple charges related to violent behavior, dating back to an incident on Dec. 18.
Whitfield was apprehended by police early Sunday morning at 2:54 a.m in a crowd of up to 60 disorderly people in the 800 block of East Main Street.
Whitfield faces a charge of aggravated battery in that incident after she allegedly pushed a police officer in the chest while trying to prevent him from arresting another woman.
From the incident on Dec. 18, sworn statements noted charges related to a confrontation in the 1200 block of North Monroe Street. Police allege Whitfield beat another woman in the face repeatedly with a closed fist.
When she saw her ex-boyfriend arrive on the scene, police claim Whitfield got back into her car and drove it straight at him.
