(Oakland, CA) — The Cleveland Cavaliers are NBA champions. The Cavs completed their comeback from a 3-1 series deficit with a 93-89 win over the Golden State Warriors in Game Seven of the NBA Finals. The Cavs are the first team to come all the way back from a 3-1 hole in NBA Finals history.

(Oakland, CA) — Cavaliers star LeBron James is the MVP of the NBA Finals. James punctuated his MVP performance with a triple-double in Game Seven. James had 27 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in the series-clinching victory.

(Oakland, CA) — Cleveland’s long championship drought is over. The Cavs captured the city’s first major professional sports title since 1964 with the Game Seven win over the Warriors. The city hadn’t celebrated a title since the Browns beat the Colts in the 1964 NFL Championship Game.

(Oakmont, PA) — Dustin Johnson is the winner of the 116th U.S. Open. Johnson captured his first career major title despite the threat of a one-stroke penalty hanging over his head for a good portion of the final round. Johnson was assessed the penalty at the conclusion of his round, but still posted a three-shot victory. Jim Furyk, Scott Piercy and Shane Lowry all ended tied for second at one-under.

(Chicago, IL) — The Cubs completed a three-game sweep of the Pirates with a 10-5 rout at Wrigley Field. Willson Contreras hit a two-run homer on the first pitch he saw in his MLB career. Chicago is an MLB-best 47-and-20 on the season.

(St. Louis, MO) — Matt Bowman gave up a two-run single to pinch-hitter Jurickson Profar in the eighth inning as the Rangers rallied to beat the Cardinals 5-4 at Busch Stadium. Stephen Piscotty and Matt Holliday homered for St. Louis. The Cards lost all three games in the series by one run.

(Cleveland, OH) — The Indians completed a three-game sweep of the White Sox with a 3-2, 10-inning win. Melky Cabrera went deep for Chicago, which dipped three games below .500 at 33-and-36. David Robertson took the loss.

(Newton, IA) — Sam Hornish Jr. took the checkered flag at the NASCAR XFINITY Series American Ethanol E15 250 presented by Enogen at Iowa Speedway. Hornish Jr. picked up the victory in his first race since last November. He filled in for the injured Matt Tifft. The Sprint Cup Series had the weekend off.
