(Philadelphia, PA) — The Cubs suffered a 3-2 loss to the Phillies last night in Philadelphia. Kyle Hendricks struck out six, but allowed two runs in five innings to fall to 4-and-5. Dexter Fowler plated a run for Chicago, which dropped to 40-and-17.

(Philadelphia, PA) — Cubs outfielder Jorge Soler will be out of action for the foreseeable future. Soler has been placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a hamstring strain. Chicago called up Albert Almora from Triple-A Iowa to fill Soler’s spot on the roster.

(Cincinnati, OH) — Joey Votto hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Reds a 7-6 win over the Cardinals at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati had blown a 6-1 lead, giving up three runs in the eighth and two in the top of the ninth in the opener of the three-game series. Kevin Siegrist took the loss after giving up Votto’s homer. Matt Carpenter tied the game with a two-run double.

(Baltimore, MD) — Punches were thrown and benches emptied during last night’s Royals-Orioles game. O’s shortstop Manny Machado charged and punched Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura after being plunked with a 99 mile-an-hour fastball in the back in the fifth inning. Both were ejected after the melee.
