Steph Curry made history in the Warriors’ latest win. Curry set an NBA record by making a three-pointer in his 128th straight game in Golden State’s 130-114 victory over the Magic. Curry buried 10 three-pointers as part of a 51-point performance. The Warriors improved to 52-and-5.
The Nets are cutting ties with veteran swingman Joe Johnson. The team has officially waived Johnson after completing a buyout of his contract. The Cavaliers, Thunder, Heat and Celtics have been rumored to be interested in signing Johnson after he clears waivers.
Calle Jarnkrok’s goal with 1:51 left in the third period pushed the Predators to a 3-1 win over the Blackhawks. Brent Seabrook lit the lamp in the second for Chicago, which has dropped two straight and five of its last seven. Corey Crawford stopped 29 shots in defeat. The ‘Hawks host the Capitals Sunday.
Chris Kreider scored early in the third period to give the Rangers a 2-1 win over the Blues at the Scottrade Center. Troy Brouwer tied the game at one in the second period for St. Louis on the power play. Jake Allen gave up two goals on 23 shots for the Blues, who have lost two straight after winning five in-a-row. The Blues play the Predators tomorrow in Nashville.
Outfielder Matt Holliday isn’t expecting his 2017 contract option to be exercised anytime soon. Despite saying he wants to finish his career with St. Louis, he tells the “Post Dispatch” the team may wait until after the season to make a move. Injuries limited Holliday to 73 games last year.
After reports he had agreed to a deal with Baltimore this week, free-agent outfielder Dexter Fowler is instead returning to the Cubs. The 29-year-old has agreed to a one-year contract with the Cubs, with a mutual option for 2017. He hit .250 with 17 home runs and 20 stolen bases with Chicago last season.
Outfielder Chris Coghlan is changing uniforms in the middle of spring training. He’s been traded by the Cubs to the A’s for right-handed pitcher Aaron Brooks. The 25-year-old Brooks has had big league appearances with the Royals and A’s over the last two seasons.
A co-owner of the White Sox is dead. Eddie Einhorn passed away in Alpine, New Jersey following complications from a stroke. He spent the last 25 years as vice chairman of the White Sox. He was 80 years old.
A grand jury is going to look into an assault case against Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel [[ man-ZELL ]]. Dallas police announced jurors will decide whether Manziel should be charged after a late January situation involving an ex-girlfriend.
49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick [[ KAP-er-nick ]] reportedly wants out of San Francisco. NFL Network reports Kaepernick’s agents have requested permission to seek a trade. Niners GM Trent Baalke said Wednesday he plans to keep the signal-caller on the roster.
The NFL’s appeal of the lifting of Tom Brady’s four-game suspension will be heard by three federal judges next Thursday. The judges will determine whether the lower-court judge was correct to overturn Brady’s suspension for his role in the “Deflategate” scandal.
