The Raiders are remaining in Oakland for the 2016 season. Representatives from Alameda County and the Raiders organization have announced a one-year deal with a possible two-year extension that keeps the team playing at O.Co Coliseum.
Stanford running back Barry J. Sanders is transferring to Oklahoma State. Sanders will join the Cowboys after he graduates from Stanford in June. Sanders’ father and Hall of Famer Barry won the Heisman Trophy at Oklahoma State in 1988.
Number-22 Indiana outlasted fifth-ranked Iowa, 85-78, in a see-saw affair in Bloomington. The Hoosiers captured their 20th win and created a three-way tie with Iowa and Maryland for first place in the Big Ten.
The Blackhawks dropped to 0-and-2 on their four-game homestand with a 4-2 loss to the Stars. Duncan Keith and Patrick Kane scored third-period goals for Chicago, which is a point ahead of Dallas for first in the West. Corey Crawford was pulled after allowing all four goals in the first period. The ‘Hawks host the Ducks tomorrow.
Chicago will be the site of the 2017 NHL Draft. The United Center will host the league’s annual selection meeting in ’17. The arena will also host the NCAA’s Frozen Four next year.
Rockets big man Dwight Howard could be on the move before the NBA trade deadline. Yahoo! Sports reports Houston has started contacting teams about a potential trade. Howard is averaging 14.6 points and 12 rebounds this season.
It’s All-Star Weekend in the NBA. The league’s best have gathered in Toronto for a weekend full of festivities. The weekend culminates with 65th All-Star Game Sunday evening.
The first pitches of spring training are right around the corner. Pitchers and catchers for both the Cubs and White Sox will report to Cactus League camp in Arizona a week from today. Both teams will open their Cactus League schedule on March 3rd.
The Cardinals will hold their first official workout of spring training in one week. Pitchers and catchers report to Jupiter, Florida on Thursday and will hit the practice field on Friday. The first full-squad workout is set for February 23rd. The Cardinals will open exhibition play on March 2nd.
