The Cardinals have acquired infielder Jedd Gyorko [[ JERK-oh ]] from the Padres for outfielder Jon Jay. The 27-year-old Gyorko hit .247 with 16 home runs last season, playing second base, first base and shortstop. He’s signed through 2019, with a 13-million-dollar club option for 2020.
The Cubs’ infield will have a new look next season. Chicago inked prized free agent Ben Zobrist to a four-year deal last night. Chicago also dealt infielder Starlin Castro to the Yankees in exchange for pitcher Adam Warren.
The Diamondbacks continue to overhaul their starting rotation. On the same day Arizona finalized a deal with Zack Greinke, the team acquired pitcher Shelby Miller from the Braves for a package that included top-overall pick Dansby Swanson.
