The Blue Jays have trimmed the Royals’ lead in the American League Championship Series. Troy Tulowitzki’s three-run homer ignited a six-run third inning as the Blue Jays outslugged the Royals, 11-8, in Game Three of the ALCS in Toronto. KC now leads the best-of-seven series two-games-to-one. Game Four is today in Toronto.
After an off-day Monday, the National League Championship Series resumes tonight in Chicago. The Cubs host the Mets in Game Three of the best-of-seven series at Wrigley Field. New York won the first two games at home. Kyle Hendricks opposes Jacob deGrom at 8:07 p.m. Eastern.
The Eagles moved into first place in the NFC East with a 27-7 win over the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field on “Monday Night Football.” DeMarco Murray piled up 109 yards and a TD on 22 carries as the Eagles improved to 3-and-3. New York dipped to 3-and-3.
The NFL will hold a public hearing in St. Louis next week to discuss the Rams’ potential relocation to Los Angeles. Fans will have a chance to ask questions at the Peabody Opera House next Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m. The hearings are open to the public, but require an entry pass.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mike Vick is dealing with a “tiny tear” in his hamstring and is expected to be out this week. NFL Media reports Vick underwent tests which showed visible damage. He left Sunday’s win over Arizona, and third-string quarterback Landry Jones rallied Pittsburgh to a 25-13 win. Jones is expected to start this Sunday at Kansas City.
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Daniel Norris is battling cancer. The former Blue Jays top prospect revealed on Instagram he opted to finish the season before undergoing treatment. He will undergo surgery to have a malignant growth removed from his thyroid. The 22-year-old went 3-and-2 with a 3.75 ERA in 13 starts between the Jays and Tigers this season.
Illinois is back on its home field this Saturday hosting Wisconsin. The Fighting Illini lost 29-20 at 18th-ranked Iowa this past Saturday to drop to 4-and-2 overall and 1-and-1 in the Big Ten. The Badgers picked off Purdue 24-7 at home on Saturday to improve to 5-and-2 and 2-and-1.
