Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds‘ documentary Believer, which explores how the Mormon Church treats its LGBTQ members, will make its television debut on HBO this summer.
The film takes place over the last year, during which Reynolds, who is Mormon himself, planned the inaugural LoveLoud Festival in Orem, Utah to support the LGBTQ community and raise awareness of Utah’s rising youth suicide rate.
“LoveLoud reached 20,000 people in Utah, which is really small compared to the number of people who need to be reached,” says Reynolds in a statement. “I think the reason the film needs to happen is because I feel like this is a way that nobody can turn their heads away.”
Reynolds wrote two original songs for Believer, and the film was scored by The Dark Knight composer Hans Zimmer.
Believer, which is also the name of Imagine Dragons’ hit single, will premiere at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival later this month.
