(Decatur, IL) -- New charges of escape and violating parole are in the works for the inmate who walked off from the Macon County Jail Wednesday afternoon. Schuyler McCoy was able to saunter away after telling corrections officers that he was an inmate who was in the process of being released on bond. A massive manhunt ensued and McCoy was captured about four hours later. McCoy was in the pokey for two months awaiting sentencing for aggravated battery but was just recently sentenced to three years in prison as part of a plea deal. He was about to be transferred to the DOC when he escaped.
