Officials Suggest Extreme Caution If Heading Outdoors

(Decatur, IL) -- Officials are warning Decatur residents and folks in surrounding areas to be extra careful when conditions are excessively hot. High temperatures and humidity will wear you down if you have to stay outdoors for extended periods. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids, take breaks out of the sun and in the AC if you work outside and cut down those runs and bike rides to early morning and late evening. And don’t forget to check on your neighbors who are elderly are infirmed. The Macon County Senior Center is serving as a cooling center for anyone needing to beat the heat. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, go to the library and read a book. They have air conditioning there, too.
