(Decatur, IL) -- The Civil War monument in Central Park is going to have a new home on the south side of the park as part of the site’s makeover, which is now under construction. Inside the base of the monument is a time capsule, which was placed there in 1976, even though it was originally dedicated in 1904. Public Works Director Rick Marley says the monument and base will be moved as one piece, so the time capsule won’t see daylight. He says if you want to know what’s in it, go to the library and look up the old newspaper articles from `76.
