(Miami, FL) — Three Dolphins players protested social injustice during the national anthem of their preseason opener against the Buccaneers in Miami. Wide receivers Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson took a knee, and defensive end Robert Quinn raised his right fist while standing. The NFL announced there will be no punishment for players taking a knee.

(Seattle, WA) — There was a welcome sight for the Colts in a 19-17 preseason win over the Seahawks in Seattle. Franchise quarterback Andrew Luck saw his first game action since the final week of the 2016 season. He completed 6-of-9 passes for 64 yards, leading Indianapolis to two field goals in two series as he returns from a shoulder injury.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Bears’ starting offense didn’t click in their 30-27 loss to the Bengals in Cincinnati. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky played the first two series and Chicago was held to minus-one yard on eight plays. Trubisky completed 2-of-4 passes for four yards. Kyle Fuller picked off Andy Dalton for a 47-yard score for the Bears, who are 0-and-2. They visit the Broncos a week from tomorrow.

(St. Louis, MO) — Gary Woodland is atop the leaderboard after the first round of the PGA Championship in St. Louis. He carded a six-under 64 on Thursday at Bellerive Country Club. Rickie Fowler is one shot back in second place, with two others two strokes off the lead in third. Tiger Woods opened with an even-par 70 and is tied for 48th place.

(Houston, TX) — Mariners manager Scott Servais [[ SUR-viss ]] is making a tough decision. Servais is yanking one-time great Felix Hernandez from the starting rotation and moving him to the bullpen. It will be the first time in King Felix’s career he’s been used as a reliever after 398 career starts. Hernandez has a 5.73 ERA in 23 outings this season.
