(New Orleans, LA) — John Phillips Jr. of Decatur, current write-in candidate for Macon County Board District 6, and Chair of the Libertarian Party of Macon County was elected during the Libertarian National Convention to represent Region 6 on the Libertarian National Committee of the Libertarian Party.
During the national convention in New Orleans, delegates from Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota met to formalize their region and elect a representative. Mr. Phillips was nominated by Illinois State Chair Bennet Morris of Bloomington and ran against Tyler Danke of Wisconsin, also nominated by his state chair, Phillip Andersen, who was selected as the region’s alternate. Mr. Phillips won the election by a large margin, and immediately took office.
Mr. Phillips was also presented the Jim Waldron Award for Outstanding Local Service, an award for activism, by the Libertarian Party of Illinois.
