(Decatur, IL) — Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) has purchased the assets of Decatur Ambulance Service, Inc. (DAS) effective June 18, 2018. Ambulance services will be uninterrupted in Decatur, Pana and Shelbyville during this seamless transition and patients will not notice a difference in emergency medical services. All DAS colleagues will be joining HSHS and will be employed by HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital. DAS leaders will remain in their current roles and the same team, led by Michael Burkham, David Burkham and Dave Krause, will work out of its current location at 417 W. Wood St. The fleet of 22 vehicles will also remain the same and there are no plans to make any substantial changes in day-to-day operations.
HSHS recognizes the Teamsters, Local 916 and its existing contracts with the new HSHS colleagues.
“This partnership aligns perfectly with the foundational mission principles of Hospital Sisters Health System: to embody the belief that every life is a sacred gift and every human being is a unity of body, mind and spirit,” said E.J. Kuiper, president and CEO of HSHS Central Illinois Division Hospitals. “Our healthcare ministry calls upon us to foster healing, serve with compassion and promote wellness for all persons, with special attention to our brothers and sisters who are poor, underserved and most vulnerable.”
