(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals were off on Monday. They get back to work tonight as they begin a three-game series with the Marlins at Busch Stadium. Carlos Martinez is scheduled to start for St. Louis and Jose Urena [[ oo-RAIN-ya ]] for Miami. The Cardinals are 32-and-25, three-and-a-half games behind the Brewers for the NL Central lead.

(Secaucus, NJ) — The 2018 MLB Draft is underway. The Cardinals selected left-hand hitting third baseman Nolan Gorman with the 19th overall pick last night. He’s out of Sandra Day O’Connor High School in Arizona. The Cubs took Stanford shortstop Nico Hoerner with the 24th overall pick. The 40-round draft continues today and tomorrow.

(Chicago, IL) — The Bulls held two solo workouts with potential options for the seventh pick in the 2018 NBA Draft yesterday. Duke big man Wendell Carter Junior and Villanova wing Mikal Bridges both had their chances to impress Chicago brass yesterday. The draft is June 21st.

(Chicago, IL) — Tight end Zach Miller is returning to the Bears on a one-year contract. Miller suffered a gruesome knee injury last season that possibly could have ended his career. He’s recovering from a knee dislocation that needed an emergency vascular surgery to save his right leg.

(Washington, DC) — The Capitals are just a win away from their first Stanley Cup championship. They opened a 4-0 lead in the second period and cruised past the Golden Knights 6-2 in Game Four of the Stanley Cup Final in D.C. Washington now leads the best-of-seven series three-games-to-one. Vegas will try to avoid elimination in Game Five at home on Thursday.

Game Three is in Cleveland tomorrow night. Golden State leads the best-of-seven series two-game-to-none.

(San Francisco, CA) — The 49ers are mourning the loss of one of their all-time greats, Dwight Clark. His wife Kelly posted on Clark’s Twitter account that he died at the age of 61 after a battle with ALS. Clark is best known for “The Catch,” when he made a leaping touchdown grab to win the NFC Championship Game against Dallas in 1982. He won two Super Bowl titles with the Niners over his nine-year career.

(Secaucus, NJ) — The Detroit Tigers have selected Auburn pitcher Casey Mize with the first pick in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft. The San Francisco Giants took Georgia Tech catcher Joey Bart second, while the Philadelphia Phillies drafted Wichita State third baseman Alec Bohm with the third pick. The A’s took Oklahoma QB and baseball player Kyler Murray ninth.
