(Edwardsville, IL) — Professors at Southern Illinois University’s Edwardsville campus are asking for recognition. The school’s faculty senate Wednesday sent a letter to SIU Trustees making their case for ‘distinct and equal’ universities in the split between SIU-E and SIU’s main campus in Carbondale. Faculty Senate head Marcus Augustin says enrollment at SIU-E has been rising while enrollment at the Carbondale campus is falling. He says SIU Edwardsville has shown its worth, and he says faculty members simply want to be recognized for their work.
