(Peoria, IL) — The Peoria City Council has voted to raise the age for people buying tobacco products. The council approved the measure with an 8-2 vote. Stores in Peoria are not allowed to sell products to anyone under 21-years-old. Lawmakers say anyone between the ages of 18 and 20 who are caught using tobacco products will not be punished, they’re just not allowed to make the purchase.
