(Chicago, IL) — Marwin Gonzalez laced a two-run double in a five-run seventh as Houston clobbered the White Sox 7-1 in Chicago. The Astros outscored the White Sox 27-to-2 in sweeping the weekend series. Chicago starter Reynaldo Lopez allowed one run on four hits and four walks in five innings in a no-decision and Aaron Bummer was charged with the loss. The White Sox are on a seven-game slide.

(Denver, CO) — The Cubs jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead and held on to edge the Rockies 9-7 in Denver. Javy Baez homered and drove in three runs to lead the charge for Chicago. Jose Quintana pitched into the sixth inning and gave up four runs but earned the win. Brandon Morrow locked down his fourth save as the Cubs took two-of-three in the set.

(Denver, CO) — It was a short Sunday for Cubs first baseman Kris Bryant. He was hit in the front of the helmet by a pitch from Rockies starter German Marquez in the top of the first inning. The ball caught the bill of the helmet and knocked it sideways. The Cubs say Bryant shows no sign of a concussion.

(St. Louis, MO) — Paul DeJong [[ deh-YOUNG ]] hit a three-run homer and Kolten Wong also went deep as the Cardinals beat the Reds 9-2 at Busch Stadium. Yadier Molina went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored as St. Louis swept the three-game series. Miles Mikolas went seven innings for his third win.

(Undated) — In NBA playoff action yesterday, the Cavaliers, Wizards and Spurs all tied their series, while the Spurs avoided elimination. The Cavs edged the Pacers 104-100 behind 34 points from LeBron James. The Wizards knocked off the Raptors 106-98, and the Bucks topped the Celtics 104-102. All three of those series’ are tied at two wins each. The Spurs prevented the sweep with a 103-90 win against Golden State.

(Undated) — Two teams are moving on and two teams are going home in the NHL playoffs. The Penguins destroyed the Flyers 8-5 to advance. Jake Guenztel scored four goals in the win. The Predators blanked the Avalanche 5-0, sending them home in six games. Nashville faces Winnipeg in the next round, while the Pens will face either Washington or Columbus.

(Anaheim, CA) — Giants first baseman Brandon Belt is now the MLB record-holder for the longest at-bat. Belt worked Angels righty Jaime Barria for 21 pitches in the first inning before lining out to right field. The MLB first started keep track of the stat in 1988. Belt fouled off 16 two-strike pitches to stay alive and later homered in the fifth inning.
>>White Sox P Farquhar Undergoes Surgery
(Chicago, IL) — White Sox pitcher Danny Farquhar [[ FAHR-kwahr ]] is still in critical but stable condition after collapsing in the dugout on Saturday. Farquhar suffered a brain hemorrhage and underwent surgery Saturday to relieve swelling on his brain. The hemorrhage was caused by a ruptured aneurysm. He’s still hospitalized in Chicago and has been placed on the disabled list. He’ll be hospitalized for at least three weeks.

(Arlington, TX) — The 2018 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. The three-day event will feature the first round on Thursday, rounds two and three on Friday, and rounds four-through-seven on Saturday. The Cleveland Browns own the first overall pick.

(Richmond, VA) — Kyle Busch is becoming very familiar with victory lane in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Busch took home his third-straight checkered flag with a win at the Toyota Owners 400 Saturday night in Richmond. It was his fifth career victory at Richmond Raceway. Chase Elliott finished second and Denny Hamlin third. NASCAR heads to Talladega this Sunday.
