(Urbana, IL) — Leaders at the University of Illinois say there’s not much that’s different in the debate over Chief Illiniwek. The school hosted a special discussion about The Chief on Tuesday. U of I Chancellor Robert Jones says he thinks the campus event was useful. Supporters of The Chief say they want to honor the school’s former mascot, while opponents say The Chief is still problematic and needs to be erased from campus in all his forms.
