(East Lansing, MI) — More trouble is on the horizon for Tom Izzo and the Michigan State basketball program. A lawsuit filed yesterday accuses three Spartan basketball players of raping a female student in 2015. It was placed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan. The woman is still at the school, but the three players aren’t. No one is specified by name.

(Atlanta, GA) — Floyd Mayweather Junior is once again finding himself in some controversy. One of Mayweather’s bodyguards was shot Monday when three cars were heading to a hotel in Atlanta. The boxing star was in one of the cars, but not the one that was shot. Atlanta police stated they don’t believe this was a random shooting. Gregory La Rosa was shot in the leg and has already been released from the hospital.

(Brooklyn, NY) — Allen Crabbe poured in a career-high 41 points to lead the Nets to a 114-105 win over the Bulls at the Barclays Center. Sean Kilpatrick came off the bench to score a team-high 16 points for Chicago, which lost its third in a row to fall to 27-and-54. The Bulls have the seventh-worst record in the league, one-game worse than the Knicks and Nets. They wrap up the season hosting the Pistons tomorrow night.

(Undated) — There’s only one NBA playoff spot up for grabs after three Western Conference teams clinched on Monday night. The Thunder, Spurs and Pelicans all locked up playoff berths with victories. The eighth and final playoff spot comes down to one game during the final night of the regular season tomorrow. The winner of the T’wolves and Nuggets matchup gets to play the Rockets in the first round. The NBA playoffs begin on Saturday.

(Indianapolis, IN) — Colts’ quarterback Andrew Luck still isn’t throwing footballs but he is confident he will be ready when training camp rolls around. Luck wouldn’t reveal any timetables when speaking with media yesterday but did say he is making progress with his surgically repaired right shoulder. The former top-pick did not play last season.

(Alameda, CA) — Jon Gruden’s second tenure as Raiders head coach is off to a rocky start. Multiple outlets report star pass rusher Khalil Mack did not show up for the first day of voluntary workouts yesterday. Mack is in the final year of his rookie deal and wants a contract extension.

(St. Louis, MO) — It was a rough Cardinals debut for new closer Greg Holland. He walked four batters to force in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning as the Cards lost 5-4 to the Brewers at Busch Stadium. Dexter Fowler’s sac-fly in the bottom of the ninth got St. Louis even to force extra innings.

(Chicago, IL) — The Cubs’ home opener against the Pirates at Wrigley Field was postponed due to snow yesterday. The teams will now open the three-game series today, which was a scheduled off-day. Tyler Chatwood will start on the mound for Chicago. The Pirates will counter with right-hander Ivan Nova. The Bucs lead the NL Central at 7-and-2. The Cubs are 5-and-4.

Nicky Delmonico drilled a two-run homer for the White Sox, who fell to 3-and-6 with their fourth straight loss. Miguel Gonzalez gave up four runs in four-and-a-third frames as he fell to 0-and-2.

(Washington, DC) — Nationals ace Max Scherzer played the role of stopper in the their 2-0 shut out of the Braves in DC. Scherzer put an end to Washington’s five-game slide by striking out 10 and holding Atlanta to two hits in a complete-game gem. He is 2-and-1 with a 0.90 ERA through three starts this season.
