In a game heard only on Talk 101 FM, The MacArthur Generals move on to the Regional Championship game Friday night against Springfield Southeast after they defeated Taylorville by a 70-59 score. Armon Brummett led MacArthur with 32 points. Amir Brummett had 16 points for the Generals in the win.

(New York, NY) — It’s one-and-done for Illinois in the Big Ten Tournament. The Fighting Illini lost 96-87 to Iowa in the first round at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Kipper Nichols had a game-high 31 points for Illinois in defeat. Meanwhile, Northwestern plays Penn State tonight in a second-round matchup. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.

(Undated) — The Missouri Valley Conference Tournament gets underway with first-round action tonight at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Loyola-Chicago and Southern Illinois play in tomorrow’s quarterfinals, with their opponents still to be determined. Bradley will go up against Drake and Illinois State squares off with Indiana State.

(St. Louis, MO) — Carter Hutton stopped 35-of-36 shots as the Blues snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Red Wings at Scottrade Center. Scottie Upshall and Alex Pietrangelo scored for St. Louis. With 74 points, the Blues are just out of a wild card spot in the West. They play at Dallas Saturday.

(San Jose, CA) — The Blackhawks are in San Jose tonight to skate against the Sharks. It’s the second stop on a four-game road trip that began with a 3-2 loss at Columbus on Saturday. Chicago will also visit LA and Anaheim before heading home. The Blackhawks are 12 points out of the second wild card spot in the West.

(Sarasota, FL) — Alex Mejia singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning as the Cardinals rallied past the Orioles 10-9 in Grapefruit League play in Sarasota. Yairo Munoz homered twice in an eight-run seventh inning that tied the game at nine for St. Louis. John Gant got the win. The Cards host the Twins today.

(Mesa, AZ) — A two-run double by Efren Navarro capped a four-run first inning and the Cubs held on to beat the A’s 7-5 in Cactus League play at Sloan Park. Chris Gimenez had a pair of two-run singles for Chicago, which is 4-and-1 on the spring. Starter Kyle Hendricks got the win. The Cubs host the Rockies this afternoon.

(Glendale, AZ) — The White Sox scored four times in the eighth inning to rally past the Rangers 5-4 in Cactus League play at Camelback Ranch. Seby Zavala’s two-run single capped the frame to put Chicago in front. Jose Abreu’s two-run homer got the Sox to within one. Dylan Cease got the win. The Sox visit the Reds today.

(Chicago, IL) — The Bulls open a three-game homestand tomorrow against the Mavericks. Chicago will also host the Celtics and Grizzlies before hitting the road again. The Bulls were swept on their recent three-game road trip and have lost five in-a-row overall. At 20-and-41, they are 12 games out of a playoff spot in the East.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Bears will be parting ways with quarterback Mike Glennon. GM Ryan Pace said at the NFL Scouting Combine they will release Glennon once the new league year starts on March 14th. The Bears also plan to release linebacker Willie Young. On-field workouts at the Combine in Indianapolis start tomorrow.
>>Colts Won’t Re-Sign RB Gore
(Indianapolis, IN) — The Indianapolis Colts are not bringing back Frank Gore. The decision was announced Wednesday, following a meeting between Colts general manager Chris Ballard and the veteran running back. Gore turns 35 in May, but has already made it known he plans to play a 14th season this fall. Gore never missed a start in three seasons with the Colts and is just 76 yards away from passing Curtis Martin for fifth on the NFL’s all-time rushing list. He spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the 49ers.
