(Peoria, IL) — Western Illinois’ congresswoman wants to know what she can do to end the state’s teachers shortage. But school leaders in Peoria yesterday told Congresswoman Cheri Bustos most of the problems are at the state level. Bustos says she wants to figure out a way to fill the one-thousand open teaching positions across the state. But Peoria County’s regional superintendent, Beth Derry, yesterday said Illinois lawmakers are really the only ones who can fix the problems.
