(Chester, IL) — Illinois has a new Legionnaires outbreak. The state’s Department of Human Services on Tuesday confirmed one case of the disease at the Chester Mental Health Center in southern Illinois. DHS says the patient is being treated and is in stable condition, but they are not offering any other details about who they are. This is the third state facility to deal with Legionnaires or Legionella. There is a Legionnaires outbreak at the veterans home in Quincy, and the confirmation of Legionella at the Capitol Complex. The Chester facility is Illinois’ only maximum-security mental health facility.
